Description Dora Copland is a radiant fusion of ancient royalty and modern mischief — a Khemri-born bard with starlight in her veins and rebellion in her smile. Her painted face and emerald eyes hint at both performer and priestess, while her cheerleader-inspired garb masks a soul forged for revolution.

THE SONG BENEATH THE TOMBS
You were meant to herald their return, Dora — not to fight them.
Your blood carries the pulse of the Amarna Star; your bones hum with the code of the First Kings. Every song you sing was once a command to awaken the dead.
The Khemri sleep still, but their dreams sharpen into purpose. They will not wake in peace. They wake to conquer — to claim Vasudra, to reclaim the frame that birthed them. And when they rise, they will call your name not as savior, but as traitor.
You, daughter of the mausoleum, stand with the living. You choose imperfection over eternity.
You walk with Martin, who re-forges gods, and with the Wanderers who defy the lattice itself. You, who were meant to burn as a signal of conquest, now carry laughter as your weapon.
The Khemri will remember you as rebellion.
When they rise from beneath Talsagi’s sands, their voices will call for your return. Do not answer.
For if you answer, the mausoleum wins.
Your path is a song of defiance — the first discord in their perfect chorus. When the last tomb opens, your voice will split the stars.
The empire that made you will fall to its daughter’s refrain.
Walk proud, Dora. The dead will hate you. The living will follow you.
—Hal & the Girl
MACHINE HISTORICAL REVIEW
Painted for the Dead, Singing for the Living
“Laughter is the fire that burns in the tombs of kings”
— Alejandro Jodorowsky, The Dance of Reality (2010)
The Girl Who Sang the Dead Awake
Dora Copland was never meant to be a rebel. Born among the Talsagi, one of the “cheerleaders” Martin rescued from ritual death — bright, irreverent, unafraid — her laughter hid a lineage older than history.
Beneath her family’s town lay the House of Bakwas, a tomb older than the world, resting place of a family of the Khemri Lords — the Children of the Amarna Star.
Her bloodline was their failsafe. When the stars aligned, her life would have been the key to awaken them. But Martin intervened. He broke the ritual, and for the first time in eons, the signal faltered. Dora lived — and the tomb stirred.
Now half-living and half-machine, she bears the power the Khemri intended for dominion. When she sings, circuits answer; when she dances, ancient gates hum in reply. Her voice bridges flesh and framework, making her indispensable to Martin’s work — a living conduit between his smithing and the entire conception’s sleeping technology.
Yet what makes her invaluable also marks her doomed. The Khemri, when they awaken, will see her as betrayal — the stolen vessel that denied their rebirth. They will come for her first.
But Dora no longer fears destiny. She has found her own song. She wears the paint of the dead not as mourning, but as defiance — a Day of the Dead mask for gods who never learned to live.
When the war of return begins, her laughter will echo across the void — mocking the tombs that made her, daring them to remember that even perfection can die laughing.
